FLORENCE'S PASSING

If you knew Florence and would like to share your thoughts and memories of her, please pen them down at "Sunflower In Heaven"

Florence passed away on the 18th of December 2005 after a brave 9 year battle against cancer. She slipped into a coma in the morning and peacefully passed way in her sleep in the evening with all her family members by her side.

Her wake was held over 5 days at home. She left instructions in a box on how she wanted her wake and funeral to be carried out. She was cremated and her ashes scattered at sea, just as she wanted.

BOOK LAUNCHES

During the last few months of her fight with cancer, she was busy promoting her book, "My Journey with Breast Cancer: Awakening" (English version). One of her last updates to this website was on the outcome of her English Book Launch at the Singapore Breast Cancer Foundation.

Her quest in helping others did not rest there. She believed the Chinese community in Singapore needed more information and support than what was present then. Although her condition was slipping, she perserved to publish a Mandarin version of her book. In order to steady herself for the book launch, she subjected herself to 10 more sessions of radiothearapy.

On the 22nd of October 2005, the Mandarin version of her book was launched successfully at Singapore Chung Hwa Medical Institution. The event raised S$20,000 for the Institution via the book auction. (Mandarin Book Launch Photos)

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

My mother knew that she would be celebrating her birthday for the last time in year 2005. As such, she held a birthday bash at O'ceaniq pub SAFRA (Mount Faber) for all her friends and relatives. It was a night to celebrate life with dancing, singing, and pleasant surprises. (Birthday Bash Photos)
